Teddy Bear Themed Bedroom

The Teddy Bear Themed Bedroom

When I first saw this room it was occupied. It had dark blue walls and dark blue curtains. The room was very full of things. It registered in my mind as a very tiny room. As good as I am at being able to visualize a room regardless of how it started, sometimes rooms are more challenging to do that. I was so glad when I returned after it was emptied out and the walls painted a dove white, that the room felt like a generous size. It is 9.5 X9.5 with a wonderful glass pop out shelving for plants in the window.

BEFORE

Furniture choices

Cream quilt
This room started with the vintage cream color quilt with beige stars. Quilts always speak warm and welcoming home to me.

Day bed
There is something about day beds that really give me a cozy feeling. You can use them as a couch, reading nook or a bed. Day beds frequently have a trundle bed underneath for a guest to stay overnight too!

Fur items
It became a joke that vegans would hate this room. I am aware that in staging you have to be so intensely aware of anything that might offend people. No religious stuff, no nudes, no symbols, how the rooms flow, nothing too personal, all these things you always have to be thinking about all the time. In this room I decided it was ok to indulge this trend of furry cozy pillows. I added a ceramic teddy bear cookie tin to really call out my cuddly teddy bear inspiration. I found the teddy bear at a charity thrift store called Thrift on Kent.

Vintage button snowflake pillow
I create these time consuming pillows for sale. I love them so much. I believe the vintage buttons hold memories and good vibes.  It really goes with the same good feelings I feel about quilts. The feeling of home and a history of love.

Eames Shell Chair
This is a knockoff of an expensive famous chair. The Shell Chair was introduced in the 1950s. Eames’ pioneered technologies, such as using molded and laminated wood as well as fiberglass materials for mass-produced furniture. This chair is from the same era of modern furniture as the coffee and side tables I used in the living room. Growing up my father had the Eames lounge chair and ottoman. So this designer has a special place in my heart. This chair is a lot smaller than the original design and the legs are different. Its small size works well in staging a small bedroom.

Shawl
This gorgeous cashmere shawl was from a lovely vendor found in many markets around Toronto. As well as a shop in the east end. In the photos the shawl is draped on the chair.

Swiss Army wool blanket
Hanging on the arm of the day bed is a vintage Swiss Army blanket. It also harkens back to the 1950’s.
