Creating the warm metal toned design of this livingroom staging

The midas touch
I created the gold books from a set of childrens books. Just painting the outsides make them still fully readable. You would think since half the book was already gold that this would have been a quick project, but no. The spray paint had to be sprayed on in such light coats it took so many days to get them completely covered. In the meantime – I had started spraying them in the back alley and a car ran over them. I moved them to another location and a neighbor took them in. I had to go knocking on doors looking for them and finally got them back. I finished them up in my backyard. I also spray painted pine cones gold.
Center piece over the fireplace
I also had a gold stand created for the gold tray to fit in the middle of the shelf. The shelf was made for a TV which is too high up for good viewing in my opinion. A big huge black square TV is unattractive for staging photos so I needed to come with something else. The gold tray and cream candle sticks is a better look in staging.
Vintage button cushions
I create snow flake pillows using over 200 vintage shell buttons per pillow.
Coffee tables have significance
The Art of the Japanese American Experience. Isamu Noguchi was a second generation Japanese American artist that has been celebrated in modern art and also less-discussed is the powerful effect their World War II incarceration—a period of intense hardship and discrimination—had on their lives and art. Designed in 1944, Isamu Noguchi described this glass coffee table as his best design. This livingroom included a coffee table and side tables in the design style of Isamu Noguchi.
Tray of Dreams
Lewis Salton escaped from Nazi-occupied Poland to the United States in 1939 , with the dream of selling an industrial tape-dispenser, but ended up a hotplate mogul. The HoTray and HoTable (pronounced “hot tray” and “hot table”) were Salton’s claims to fame. Salton invented the tray with his suffering wife in mind. The HoTray is an electrically heated glass tray for keeping food warm, and the HoTable is a HoTray on wheels. The patent for the HoTray was granted in 1951.
Through the trees
This large scale artwork by local Toronto artist, Bronwen Evans, was commissioned for a previous staging. This magnificent piece is well suited for this large expanse of a wall as well.
Brass lighting
Toronto has a huge film and television industry and many pieces in my staging collection come from their stage sets.
Copper collection
I found copper and brass tea pots on an auction site, polished them up with lovely resuls, however not wearing gloves turned my fingernails green.
LIVING ROOM BEFORE
This photo is taken after the floors were refinished and the walls painted. Refinishing the floors got most of the damage out but one spot is unfortunately still visible. The black cabinet on the left is a built-in.
